Hello Friend!

People often ask me what little steps they can take to calm their anxiety. They know that managing anxiety holistically is a long-term strategy, but they are curious if there are any quick fixes for a bad day, or helpful products to prevent panic.

Thankfully, there are tons of useful products you can use right at home to reduce stress and the side effects of anxiety!

In this blog, I’ll share some of these favorite go-to products that I use regularly to stay balanced, calm, and happy at home. Try them yourself, or give these as gifts for a Calm-approved holiday season!

My Top 8 Products to Soothe Anxiety

Baloo Weighted Blanket

Weighted blankets are no longer a new wellness trend - they’re a proven way to relax, ease anxiety, and get better sleep.

Weighted blankets use deep touch pressure therapy to stimulate the production of serotonin, which in turn makes you feel more calm. Other studies show that regular use of weighted blankets can moderate the stress response and reduce insomnia. They have also been used to relieve pain, improve depression, and fight chronic stress.

I love using the weighted blankets from Baloo Living, a female-founded brand. They are the only quilted weight blanket on the market that is made without synthetic materials, which means these blankets are good for you and the planet!

Angela’s Tip: It can take a little while to get used to the pressure of a weighted blanket. Start slow with a 30-minute session for 2-3 days. This is the perfect opportunity to zen out while listening to a guided meditation. Then, work your way up to sleeping with your weighted blanket. Once you get used to it, you’ll enjoy some of the best sleep of your life (and fall asleep fast, too).

Moon Juice - Spirit Dust

Spirit Dust from Moon Juice has been a game-changer for my morning routine. Before using this product, my mornings were usually spent running around like crazy, trying to get everyone ready for the day. I would fuel up on coffee to boost my energy, but I later felt the consequences: heart palpitations, loss of focus, and more stress.

When I started adding Spirit Dust to my morning coffee, however, I noticed a big change. No longer did I feel those heart palpitations of anxiety. Now, I move more calmly and feel relaxed even on the most hectic of days. Plus, it lasts all day.

When you look at the ingredients, it’s no surprise! Spirit Dust is packed with tonifying and calm-inducing Chinese herbs like reishi, goji, astragalus, and other herbs that naturally calm irritability and brighten your mood.

Angela’s Tip: Spirit Dust blends perfectly into nearly any morning beverage. It has a sweet, nutty flavor, so I love to add it to coffee, protein shakes, smoothies, or even mix it into oatmeal.

Adaptocrine and Stress-Zyme from Apex Energetics

Adaptocrine™ and Stress-Zyme™ are two of my favorite supplements to recommend to those who want to take control of their anxiety with a mind-body approach. Using these supplements is like having a tiny sidekick that helps your body get through the day with ease.

Adaptocrine™ uses science-backed adaptogenic ingredients (like vitamin C, pantethine, ginseng, rhodiola, and holy basil) to support your body against the negative effects of stress. These and other ingredients help to re-establish balance in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis.

I also recommend Stress-Zyme™ to nearly all my patients for the simple reason that most of us are deficient in magnesium and potassium. These two minerals are crucial for brain health, sleep, and balanced emotions.

Along with magnesium and potassium, Stress-Zyme contains 5-HTP, polygala extract, valerian root, and eleuthero extract to calm the nervous system and promote healthy sleep patterns.

Angela’s Tip: You can purchase both Stress-Zyme and Adaptocrine at our Calm San Diego office! Pick them up at your next visit or contact us to ship outside of San Diego.

Chill the F' Out - Apothékary

Just like the name implies, this yummy herbal blend is perfect for those days when you just don’t feel like yourself. It contains herbs like reishi and ashwagandha to help you release stress and tension and keep your cortisol levels under control.

Angela’s Tip: I love this blend because it not only helps me chill out when I need to find my calm, but it also doubles as a healthy chocolatey treat. I make it with warm oat or coconut milk and maple syrup for an herbal take on peppermint hot chocolate.

Five Seasons TCM - Lullaby Calming Culinary TCM Tonic Bag

I love nothing more than Chinese herbs, therapeutic cooking, and natural anxiety relief.  And these tonic bags from Five Seasons TCM do all three!

The Lullaby Calming Culinary TCM Tonic Bags are a versatile way to bring Chinese herbology into your everyday meals. They contain some of Chinese medicine’s best spirit-calming herbs (like suan zao rent, goji, longan fruit, and lily bulb) to calm and soothe the body and mind. Use them regularly to sleep more soundly, eliminate nightmares, and reduce nighttime anxiety.

There are countless ways you can use these tonic bags, but here are 3 easy ways to get your creative cooking juices flowing:

Tea: Steep 1 bag with 2 cups of water for 5 minutes and drink as a tea.
Porridge
: Stew 1 bag with 2 cups of water or broth, ⅓ cup of grain, and fresh produce.
Soup
: Add 1 bag to your favorite soup recipe, or add to 8 cups of bone broth, vegetables, and seasonings of choice

Angela’s Tip: Five Seasons TCM also offers a large library of therapeutic recipes, including ones for natural anxiety relief. Check out their Apple Oatmeal for Tranquility or Vegan Cauliflower Mushroom Cream Soup, both of which use these Lullaby Calming Culinary Tonic Bags!

Charlotte's Web - CBD Gummies: Calm

CBD is becoming one of the world’s most popular and well-researched ways to relieve anxiety. Gummies like these contain phytocannabinoids that stimulate the body’s own endocannabinoid system. This promotes a sense of relaxation, calm, and sleepiness.

Charlotte’s Web Gummies go one step further to contain lemon balm, a naturally calming herb that reduces stress and improves mood.

Angela’s Tip: I love to recommend these CBD gummies because they are an easy way to keep stress levels low, even when you’re on the go. Keep a few in your bag or car for when you need some emergency stress relief.

Revive - Stress Relief Blend

Aromatherapy is a powerful tool against stress and anxiety. With this essential oil blend, you can have that power right in the palm of your hands! Revive Stress Relief Blend contains soothing, calming, and uplifting essential oils like rosemary, lavender, and peppermint.

Angela’s Tip: Put a drop of Stress Relief on the soles of your feet before a long day to keep you grounded. Carry it with you to smell whenever you need a moment to relax.

Sweet Birch Magnesium Bath Flakes - Naturopathica

One of my favorite things to do to blow off steam is to sit in a steamy bath! And when I do, I use Sweet Birch Magnesium Bath Flakes for an extra-relaxing experience. These bath salts from Naturopathica contain soothing magnesium that releases muscle tension and calms the nervous system. Sweet birch brings a warming and uplifting energy to the flakes.

Angela’s Tip: Make bath time a complete stress-relief ritual with Pink Moon’s Bath Time playlist, candles, and a mug of Lullaby Calming Culinary Tonic Tea.
